The Baltimore Ravens travel to take on the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football. The game is scheduled for an 8:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the odds for the game have the Saints favored at home to get the win.
Both Baltimore and New Orleans are looking to find a way into the playoffs. It won't be easy, though, with both teams battling some close battles. Baltimore is 6-4 on the season but sits in last place in the AFC North as Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Cleveland all have seven wins already. Another win here for the Ravens would keep them on pace with everybody else.
New Orleans somehow sits in first place with their 4-6 record. That's because the NFC South is dreadful this season with Atlanta, Carolina and Tampa Bay are all well below .500 for the season. New Orleans is probably the best overall team in that division, but they haven't been able to prove it this year. The Saints have dropped two in a row with losses to San Francisco and New Orleans — both at home, where New Orleans has been nearly unbeatable in the past.
Drew Brees and the gang are favored in this mathcup, but Baltimore will look to pick up another road victory. They've dropped their last two road game but still are 3-3 on the season away from home. Playing inside a dome will help them as the elements won't be a factor. Joe Flacco and the Ravens offense will move the football against a Saints team that has been a problem this season.
Opponents have been piling up better than 370 yards offensively against the Saints, who rank 27th in the league against the pass this season. Flacco has a lot of weapons at his disposal, so expect Baltimore to throw the ball quite a bit.
Brees and the Saints offense obviously move the ball themselves. Brees averages nearly 300 yards through the air per game while New Orleans has been very good at running the football — ranking seventh best in the league at 125 yards per game with Mark Ingram leading the way. Baltimore is fifth best in the league against the run.
In this game Baltimore is going to have a great chance to go on the road and beat New Orleans. The Saints haven't been consistent enough on both sides of the football. Look for the Ravens to pick up a road win.
