The Utah State Aggies welcome in the San Jose State Spartans in college football action tonight. The game is scheduled for a 9:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN2. Currently the odds for the game have the Aggies favored by a comfortable margin of two touchdowns in this one.
Utah State is having a pretty solid season to date. The Aggies have already won eight games on the campaign and currently sit with a 5-1 record in the Mountain West, tied in the loss column with both Colorado State and Boise State in the standings. The Aggies still have to play Boise State on the road in the final game of the season and already lost to Colorado State earlier this season. In other words, the Aggies need to win out in order to have a chance at playing for the Mountain West title.
That shouldn't be a problem with lowly San Jose State coming to town tonight on national television. The Spartans have not been a good football team this season, winning only three games to date. They've dropped four straight overall and are coming off a 13-0 home loss to Hawai'i that saw the Spartans get 300 yards through the air from Joe Gray but no touchdowns. San Jose State dominated the yardage battle in that game 462-240 but turned it over three times. If they turn it over tonight this game will quickly turn into a blowout. That loss to Hawai'i also kept San Jose State from being able to get to six wins on the season, so it will be interesting to see just how much they come out with in this game tonight.
Utah State has won five straight in this series, picking up wins in the last two games by nearly four touchdowns on average. While they have been battling injuries as well, the Aggies have found a way to win four straight games since the loss to Colorado State.
The Aggies are the better football team, even with battling their injuries. They're playing at home on national television with a chance to stay alive in the Mountain West standings. They'll win and make it look easy.
