Sunday Night Football New England Patriots at Indianapolis Colts Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

Patriots vs. Colts: Breaking Down New England's Game Plan

The New England Patriots travel to take on the Indianapolis Colts tonight on Sunday Night Football. The game is scheduled for an 8:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on NBC. Currently the odds for the game have the Colts favored by a field goal to get the win.

Indianapolis and New England both love to score points. Tonight should certainly be one to watch as a fan as both teams will be able to take advantage of the other's defense. In a matchup of two great quarterbacks with weapons, points should be at a premium tonight with both teams marching up and down the field.

New England comes into tonight's game with a 7-2 record and beat up on the Denver Broncos in their last game. The Patriots want to finish the regular season with the top overall seed in the AFC, forcing any playoff opponent to have to play in Foxboro when it's cold and conditions aren't ideal. Getting to that goal would require picking up a win over the Colts, who sit atop the AFC South.

Tonight's matchup pits Tom Brady against Andrew Luck indoors, which can only help the Patriots. Luck has thrown for better than 3,000 yards already this season and 26 touchdowns. The Patriots have a pretty solid defense, but without causing problems in the backfield for Luck and disrupting his timing, it might not matter.

Brady has thrown 22 touchdowns this season, but not nearly the same amount of yards as Luck. Brady, though, has the best weapon in football with tight end Rob Gronkowski, who has 49 catches and eight touchdowns this season. When Gronk is healthy and Brady can find him the football, the Patriots are very tough to beat.

The Pats have won five straight games, scoring at least 27 points in each of those games and coming off 51 against the Bears and 43 against Denver. Indy scored 40 their last game over the Giants. The defense that plays well enough to get off the field in this game will win tonight.

New England has the better of the two defenses and they'll give Brady and the boys just enough opportunities to pick up the win in a high-scoring game.

Free Pick: New England 34, Indianapolis 28
