Analysis: The Atlanta Falcons have not had a very good year so far, but still even at 3-6 on the year they are just 1 game out of first in the very weak NFC South. The Falcons did win at Tampa Bay last week, but are still just 1-4 on the road this year. Tye Falcons are 5-1 ATS in their 6th road game of the year and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 vs. NFC South, but also are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games in Week 11. Atlanta hasn't many problems on offense where they rank 8th in total yards, 7th in passing, 24th in rushing and 13th in scoring (24.3 ppg). Defense is another story as they come in ranked 31st in yards allowed, 32nd vs the pass, 24th vs the run and 24th in points allowed (26.4 ppg).
The Carolina Panthers have not had a good year either, but they are still just a half game behind the Saints in the NFC South, with a 3-6-1 record. The Panthers have lost 4 in a row and are just 2-3 at home for the year. The Panthers are 9-3-1 ATS in their last 13 home games and 14-5-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record, but also 0-6 ATS as favorites before a week of rest. The Panthers have really struggled on offense this year, ranking 25th in total offense, 20th in passing, 27th in rushing and 25th in scoring (19.8 ppg). The defense has also struggled as they come in ranked 25th in yards allowed, 23rd vs the pass, 23rd vs the run and 29th in points allowed (28.1 ppg).
Pick: I like the Under in this game. Both teams have struggled on defense this year, but I feel that both defenses will have success vs a couple of struggling offenses. The Atlanta offense put up 27 points last week on Tampa Bay, but still come in averaging just 17.6 ppg in their last 5 games and they have averages just 18 ppg on the road this year. The Panther defense has not been great, but still have allowed just 21.8 ppg at home. The Atlanta defense has really struggled this year, but I just can’t see Carolina getting anything going in this one. The Panthers come in averaging just 296 ypg and 18.6 ppg at home, while in their last 3 games they have averaged just 13.3 ppg and 271.3 ypg. I just can’t see the offenses breaking out here, even though it’s vs two struggling defenses.
