College Football Betting Odds Michigan State Spartans at Maryland Terrapins

Michigan State Still Rose Bowl-Bound Even with Big Ten Title Game Loss?

The Michigan State Spartans hit the road in college football action on Saturday when they take on the Maryland Terrapins. Currently the College Football Betting Odds for the game have the Spartans favored on the road in this one by double digits.

Michigan State has to be feeling a bit blue after giving up half a hundred to the Ohio State Buckeyes last week. That second loss all but boots the Spartans from a chance at the college football playoff or a shot at playing in the Big Ten title game this year. The Spartans now sit a full game behind the Buckeyes in the standings and Ohio State doesn't appear to be slowing down at any point. So how does Michigan State respond? The loss to the Bucks snapped a 14-game conference win streak for Michigan State.

Sparty travels east to take on a Maryland team that already has qualified for a bowl game in their first year of Big Ten play. The Terps have been on the high and low sides this season during conference play, getting drilled by both Ohio State and Wisconsin but picking up big wins over Iowa and Penn State. These two schools haven't met on the gridiron since 1950 and this is Michigan State's second trip ever to play at Maryland — the first coming way back in 1944.

Maryland was on a bye last week but knocked off the Nittany Lions the week prior. They are battling some injuries and suspensions stemming from an incident in the Penn State game, but will have QB C.J. Brown on the field in this one. He hasn't put up great numbers all season and he can't get the football to Stefon Diggs in this game because his leading receiver is suspended.

The Terps are going to have to find another way. Maryland doesn't run the football well, averaging only 3.6 yards per rush this season but they do have 14 TDs. Michigan State no doubt has elite players on the defensive end of the football, but will the motivation be there for them?

This game is being televised live on the Big Ten Network in primetime, so Maryland should be fired up and ready to go. Michigan State plays in these types of games all the time and they still have a chance to get to double digit wins during the regular season if they win out, which should likely happen.

Connor Cook through the air and Jeremy Langford on the ground will be too much for Maryland.
