NFL Betting Odds Pittsburgh Steelers at New York Jets

Ben Roethlisberger Throws for Steelers-Record 522 Passing Yards in Win vs. Colts

The Pittsburgh Steelers travel to take on the New York Jets in NFL Football action Sunday. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on CBS. Currently the odds for the game have the Steelers favored to pick up the win.

Pittsburgh needs to take care of business in this one. The Steelers are one of the hottest teams in football right now, winning three straight games after beginning the season 3-3 and alternating wins and losses. The Steelers drilled both Indianapolis and Baltimore the past two weeks, showcasing their ability to score points.

This game against the Jets should be no different. But will the Steelers waltz into this one with everyone patting them on the back? If Pittsburgh does play a bit soft or shows up not really focused on pounding the Jets, New York could hang around in this one. No matter how bad an NFL team is, if opponents don't punish them and let them hang around, the upset is possible.

The Jets are just atrocious, though. Nothing has worked right for them all season, except the running game. The Jets rank third best in the league at just under 140 yards on the ground per game this season, but throwing the football vertically down the field has been an adventure.

For whatever reason Rex Ryan believes in Geno Smith just as much as he believed in Mark Sanchez not too many years ago. Neither quarterback was given a lot around them by the Jets in the way of talented players, so it's not hard to see why they both failed. The Jets still believe Smith has a high ceiling (not sure why) while Sanchez guided the Eagles to a win last week and looked impressive for the first time in awhile. But that's no longer the Jets' problem.

New York has a decent defense, but they have really underachieved this season. The Jets are ninth best in the league in time of possession this season, so there's no excuse for the defense to be warn down or tired.

Still the Jets can't score points. What a mess. Look for Big Ben Roethlisberger to find Antonio Brown early and often in this one. Le'Veon Bell will run well behind an offensive line that will mow and ware down the Jets.

Free Pick: Pittsburgh 31, NY Jets 17
