The Dallas Cowboys welcome in the Arizona Cardinals in NFL Football action Sunday. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on FOX. Currently the odds for the game have the Cowboys favored at home in this one.
The proverbial West Coast team playing in an Eastern time zone happens in this contest as Arizona comes a few states over to play the Cowboys. Typically these matchups aren't good for the visitors, but Arizona seems like a team that won't be bothered by the early start.
Owners of just one loss on the season, Arizona has now won six games on two separate three-game winning streaks. The only loss on the year came at Denver when the Cards were blown out in the Mile High City. Since then, they've rebounded well, winning three relatively close games that can only make them better. Carson Palmer has returned to the lineup, which makes the 6-1 start even more remarkable as the Cardinals have used several quarterbacks, but just keep winning football games.
Tony Romo obviously got banged up last week, but came back in during the overtime session as Dallas fell to Washington. Romo found a way to get back into the football game despite being injured, but it didn't matter for Dallas. He can't be at 100 percent coming into this game, but if he gets the start he's clearly good enough to play. If Romo is as close to 100 percent as possible and can make plays for Dallas, the Cowboys are going to have a very good chance to win.
UPDATE: Romo has been ruled OUT of today's game as of 8:30 a.m. EST
Arizona is no slouch and the low line lets us know this game is going to be close. Dallas has also struggled coming off a Monday night game, covering the number in just two of their next eight games in that scenario. The Cowboys have out-gained opponents by nearly 70 yards per game this season at home. Jerry's World has been nice to the Cowboys, but they are just 3-2 there this season. A win over the first place Cardinals would go a long way for their confidence and overall image in the NFL.
That also goes for Arizona as well. Hitting the road and beating Dallas in an early game would be a bright spot, but it's going to be tough. DeMarco Murray still leads the NFL in rushing this season, but it's going to be tough sledding against Arizona. The Cardinals rank third best in the league at allowing opponents to rush just 78 yards per game this year. If Murray can't get going offensively, the Cardinals are going to have a shot.
But Dallas, if Romo plays, is just too much to handle. This should be a good game between two solid clubs.
