The Cleveland Browns welcome in the Oakland Raiders in NFL Football action on Sunday. The game is scheduled for a 4:25 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on CBS. Currently the odds for the game have the Browns favored by a comfortable margin in this one.
Oakland remains winless on the season at 0-6. They've lost the last 15 games in East Coast time zones, but have covered the number in four of the last five games. Today they have a winnable game against Cleveland as the Browns have been up and down. Last week the Browns probably should have played better against a poor Jacksonville team. Cleveland wound up losing that game 24-6, unable to move the football at all and allowing the Jaguars to pick up their first win of the season. Now the Browns have to find a way to regroup. Another loss to Oakland would be devastating to the Browns, who certainly don't want to be noted as being the team to allow the first wins to both Jacksonville and Oakland this season.
If Oakland wants to run the football, it should work out for them. Cleveland is dead last in the league in allowing opponents to rush for 156 yards per game this season. Last week Jacksonville posted 185 yards on the ground in the win, averaging better than five yards per carry. Darren McFadden should be able to get the football quite a bit in this one, If Oakland knows what they are doing. They have been the worst in the league at running the football, but being down in every single game has forced them to throw the football more.
Cleveland certainly needs a win to stay alive in the AFC North standings, but Oakland needs a win just to stop being so bad. If the Raiders can sustain some drives and get points on the board, they are going to give Cleveland a battle.
The Oakland defense has to play better, and taking on a pedestrian Cleveland offense can help them get there. Look for Oakland to do enough on both sides of the football to get out of the winless column.
