Analysis: The Miami Dolphins come in off an impressive 27-14 win over the Chicago Bears. The win now has Miami at 3-3 on the year and in 3rd place in the AFC East. The Favorite is 4-1-1 the last 6 in this series and the Dolphins are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 week 8 games. Offensively this is a rather average team, as they come in ranked 12th in total yards, 22nd in passing, 4th in rushing and 11th in scoring, putting up 24.5 ppg on the year. The defense for the Fish has been very solid, ranking 4th in yards allowed, 4th vs the pass, 10th vs the run and 15th in points allowed, giving up 23 ppg.
The Jacksonville Jaguars come in off their first win of the year, taking down the Cleveland Browns by a score of 24-6 at home. The win followed 17-9 and 16-14 losses to the Steelers and Titans respectively, so the Jags seem to be playing better ball of late. The Jaguarts are just 16-34-1 ATS in their last 51 home games and 3-9-1 ATS in their last 13 games off a SU win. Jacksonville is not a very good offensive team as they come in ranked 31st in total yards, 27th in passing, 30th in rushing and 32nd in scoring (15 ppg). They have played better defensively of late, but still rank 28th in yards allowed, 30th vs the pass, 15th vs the run and 27th in points allowed (27.3 ppg).
Pick: I will look to the Under in this game. The Jacksonville offense has been non-existent all year long, but their defense has been on fire of late, allowing just 13 ppg in their last 3 games. Last week the Jacksonville defense held a hot Cleveland offense to just 6 points in the game. On offense the Jags have been held to 19 points or less in 9 of their last 10 games, dating back to the preseason. This is not a good offense at all. They did score 24 points last week, but that was vs a bad Cleveland defense and now they will take on a Miami defense that ranks 4th in yards allowed and 3rd vs the pass. On offense the Fish are a rather average team, but they are 4th in rushing and that should mean plenty of clock moving plays. Let’s also note that Miami has averaged just 18.5 ppg on the road. The last 5 meetings between these teams has seen no more than 34 points scored and this one may just be that low scoring as well.
