NFL Football Houston Texans at Tennessee Titans Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

J.J. Watt's 2013 Must Not Go Unnoticed Despite Texans' Struggles

The Tennessee Titans welcome in the Houston Texans in NFL Football action Sunday. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on FOX. Currently the odds for the game have the Texans favored by a slim margin on the road.

Houston comes into this divisional battle with the Titans off a short week, having lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night. The Texans come in having lost three straight games as well, dating back to a victory at home against Buffalo at the end of September. Houston hasn't been blown out of any of those games, though. An overtime loss to Dallas by a field goal before one-possession losses to Indianapolis and the Steelers have helped this Texans team get better even despite not being able to get a win. In this game against Tennessee, the Texans will look to run the football and get a decent game from Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback.

This will be the third road contest for Houston in four weeks while Tennessee comes in having lost five of their last six games overall, with the lone win coming over Jacksonville a couple of weeks ago.

Neither defense is great, but J.J. Watt does give the Texans a force on the defensive line. Watt can get to the quarterback and swats the ball out of the air with ease, If Houston can get some pressure in the face of the quarterback and disrupt the timing of the Titans, Houston is going to have a good chance to win.

Another positive for the Texans is that Zach Mettenberger, a rookie quarterback, will be making his first career start in this game. Certainly he won't have a good amount of chemistry with any of the receivers or backs for the Titans, but he has been seeing the first team snaps in practice this week. But that doesn't seem like enough time to get into a rhythm, so expect him to have some butterflies and not be as productive.

Houston has the best player on the field in Arian Foster at running back. Feeding Foster the football will be crucial for the Texans in this one. Foster ranks second in the league behind DeMarco Murray in rushing this season and should see a big amount of carries against a Tennessee team that gives up 124 yards per game to opposing teams on the ground.

Houston will be a bit banged up coming off the short week, but they are the better team.

Free Pick: Houston 24, Tennessee 14
