College Football Texas Tech Red Raiders at TCU Horned Frogs Start Time, Odds

Why Is TCU Quarterback Trevone Boykin Struggling?

The 10th-ranked TCU Horned Frogs welcome in the Texas Tech Red Raiders in college football action on Saturday. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on FOX. Currently the odds for the game have TCU favored by better than three touchdowns in this one.

TCU remains ranked 10th after putting a beatdown on Oklahoma State last week, 42-9. Aside from a major collapse against Baylor, the Horned Frogs have looked very good all season. Had they held on to beat the Bears a couple of weeks ago, Gary Patterson's team might be ranked inside the Top 5 nationally and being talked about as one of the potential teams to make the college football playoff. TCU should be in that discussion, but they have to survive their schedule and see what happens as the dust settles at the end of the season. Not playing in a conference with a title game will hurt them from a national perspective, but if they continue to win, they won't be able to be ignored. TCU will keep the Texas Tech offense grounded in this one as they have to nearly everyone this year. Then, back-to-back games against West Virginia and Kansas State will determine the season.

This will be the 57th meeting all-time between TCU and Texas Tech, with the Red Raiders winning both games as Big 12 conference foes.

Texas Tech just can't seem to get it going this season. While they won last week against Kansas, it stopped a four-game skid for the Red Raiders against tough competition that saw them lose games to Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Kansas State and West Virginia. The biggest problem for the Red Raiders has been the poor defense, which has allowed opponents to score 37 points per game, one of the worst marks in the country.

Davis Webb has already tossed for 22 TDs and better than 2,200 yards and Texas Tech is running the football better, but offensively they don't have a problem.

Trying to slow down a TCU offense averaging 45 per game will be a problem. Trevone Boykin and the Horned Frogs are the real deal when they have the football and they should be able to score in this one. That Horned Frog defense is pretty good as well. Expect Texas Tech to be able to get some points on the board and stay close for a bit, but TCU is just too strong.
