College Football Ohio State Buckeyes at Penn State Nittany Lions Start Time, Odds

Ohio State Football: Why 2014 Is a Make-or-Break Season for Urban Meyer

The Penn State Nittany Lions welcome in the Ohio State Buckeyes in college football action on Saturday night. The game is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ABC. Currently the odds for the game have the Buckeyes favored by almost two touchdowns on the road.

The Big Ten will take center stage of the college football world tonight when they are the national focal game on ABC. The conference has taken a beating the past few years as most of the schools have struggled to have successful seasons and the brand of football just isn't what it once was in the past.

Tonight Penn State and Ohio State hope to bring that down just a bit. The Nittany Lions are coming off back-to-back losses in the conference to both Northwestern and Michigan, but playing on national television tonight is going to have Happy Valley ready go go.

Ohio State is the real deal, though. After the loss of Heisman hopeful Braxton Miller earlier this season, J.T. Barrett was plugged into the starting quarterback job and has done an amazing job himself, tossing for 20 touchdowns already and better than 1,600 yards. He provides a dual threat option for the Buckeyes, running for already a good amount of yards.

The Buckeyes have been rolling through everyone. Outside of just 34 points against Navy and 21 in a home loss to Virginia Tech, every game this season has seen Ohio State score at least 50 points in a game. They average 46.5 for the year, which is good for fourth nationally while piling up more than 250 yards on the ground and through the air per game.

Can Penn State's defense stay off the field long enough to give the offense a chance? Christian Hackenberg is going to have to play better or Penn State is in trouble. Ohio State's defense isn't the best in the country but that do have talent on that side of the football and play well when the Buckeyes have a comfortable lead.

If Penn State falls behind early, they'll have to abandon the run, giving Ohio State more opportunities to get after Hackenberg in the pocket.

The Buckeyes have won nine of the last 12 meetings with Penn State and covered the number eight times in that span. They've also picked up three straight wins in Happy Valley. Major factor in the game will be the very good Ohio State defensive line against a Penn State offensive line that is banged up and have surrendered 15 sacks the last three Big 10 games.
