College Football Betting Odds Syracuse Orange vs Clemson Tigers Free Pick

Saturday college football and we will see the Syracuse Orange take on the Clemson Tigers at Clemson Memorial Stadium in Clemson, South Carolina. The game has a start time of 7:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on ESPN U. Current Vegas odds have the Tigers listed as 14.5 point favorites, while the total is set at 48.5.

Analysis:  The Syracuse Orange come in at 3-4 on the year, which includes a 2-0 mark on the road and a 1-2 mark in the ACC. They com in off a nice 30-7 road win over Wake Forest, but had lost their previous 4 games with all of them by 14 points or more. The Orange are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games vs a team with a winning home record. Syracuse is not a very good offensive team as the come in ranked 74th in total offense, 88th in passing, 47th in rushing and 106th in scoring (22.6 ppg). On defense they have been pretty decent, ranking 43rd in yards allowed, 64th vs the pass, 33rd vs the run and 50th in points allowed (23.6 ppg).

The Clemson Tigers come in ranked 20th in the national polls with 5-2 record that includes a 4-0 record at home and a 4-1 record within the ACC. The Tigers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs a team with a losing record, but they are also just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games in October. The Tiger offense has not nearly as explosive as the last few years, but they still have been decent, ranking 47th in total offense, 22nd in passing, 97th in rushing and 36th in scoring (34.6 ppg). The defense has been very stout for the Tigers as they come in ranked 5th in total yards allowed, 14th vs the pass, 13th vs the run and 20th in points allowed (20.0 ppg).

Pick: Its hard not to like the under in this game. The Clemson offense has become very stagnant of late with stationary Cole Stout at QB, who is just not the same Dual threat that Deshaun Watson is. The Tigers have scored just 40 total points in their last 2 games, while their defense has been special all year, allowing just 282.7 ypg and 20 ppg, which includes allowing just 227 ypg and 10 ppg in their last 3 games. This is a tough defense that will face struggling Syracuse offense that has averaged just 18.2 ppg in their last 5 games. The defense for the Cuse is not so bad as they have allowed just 23.9 ppg on the year and they should be able to hold down this Clemson offense that has really become conservative of late. The Under is 4-1 in Syracuse’s last 5 road games, while the Under is 20-7 in Clemson’s last 27 games in October. I expect this one to be played in the 30s.
