World Series Game 2 San Francisco Giants at Kansas City Royals Start Time, Odds

Why Yordano Ventura Will Live Up to the Hype in First Full MLB Season

After a dominating victory in the opener, the San Francisco Giants look to take a commanding lead in Game 2 of the World Series tonight over the Kansas City Royals. The game is scheduled for an 8:07 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on FOX. Currently the World Series Odds for the game have the Royals favored to even the series.

Current Odds

San Francisco +106
Kansas City      -115

If there ever was such thing as a "must-win" situation, it's tonight for the Kansas City Royals. After winning their first eight games of the post season and not tasting defeat at all, the Royals suffered a tough 7-1 loss last night to open the World Series. How they respond in tonight's game will give us an idea how the rest of the series will go. If Kansas City falls into an 0-2 hole heading back west, they might not get a chance to play at home again. The Giants are the most consistent team of this decade and Bruce Bochy has them in a position to win their third World Series in five years.

Getting the rock for the Royals will be flame thrower Yordano Ventura, who has been inconsistent at times but didn't lose in the post season (obviously). Ventura is going to have to keep the Giants off-balanced in this game and locate his pitches. Just because he throws in triple digits and provides some good secondary pitches doesn't mean he can head to the mound and just rare back and throw. The Giants are very disciplined at the plate and that proved to be the case in Game 1 when they beat up on Big Game James Shields.

San Francisco will send their bulldog in Jake Peavy to the mound. Peavy is a very good option for them in this game and if he can eat up the innings San Francisco is going to have a very good chance to win. His career inside Kauffman Stadium isn't the best — the veteran righty is just 1-5 with a 6.42 ERA in seven starts there.

The best thing about San Francisco is their ability to get excellent post season play from their guys. Hunter Pence provided a big spark and Pablo Sandoval continued to be a monster in his World Series tenure. Those are the types of players needed in order to win in October.

Kansas City needs to get past their loss last night and do anything possible to win tonight. With a solid outing from Ventura, look for them to win a close game. The bullpen will play a major role in this one as they hang on to even the series.
