Pro Football Betting Odds Houston Texans vs Pittsburgh Steelers Free Pick

NFL week 7 concludes tonight as the Houston Texans will travel to Heinz Field to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers. The game has a start time of 8:30 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on ESPN. Current Vegas odds have the Steelers listed as 3 point favorites, while the total is set at 45.

Analysis: The Houston Texans come into this game at 3-3 overall and 1-2 on the road. The Texans are in second place in the AFC South, 1.5 games behind the 5-2 Colts. The Texans are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games on Monday Night and they are 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games vs the AFC, but we note that they are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games during week 7. Houston is a below average offensive team that comes in ranked 20th in total yards, 28th in passing, 10th in rushing and 21st in scoring (22 ppg). Last year was a down year for this team and some of it has carried over to this year as they are ranked 29th in yards allowed, 28th vs the pass and 22nd vs the run. They do give up allot of yards, but they are also 5th in the league in points allowed, giving up just 20 ppg.

The Pittsburgh Steelers come in at 3-3 on the year, which includes 1-1 mark at home. The Steelers are off a horrible 31-10 loss at Cleveland last week and they now share the AFC North basement with the Browns. Pittsburgh is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games during week 7, but they are also 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Monday Night home games and 2-10 ATS as favs of less than 7 points in the 1st of BB home games. The Pittsburgh offense has been solid this year as they come in ranked 4th in total yards, 8th in passing, 4th in rushing, but they have struggled to score, averaging just 20.7 ppg, which is 24th in the league. The defense has been average at best as they come in ranked 13th in yards allowed, 11th vs the pass, 15th vs the run and they have allowed 23.2 ppg which is 18th in the league.

Pick: The NFL has been kicking my ass lately so I will try and take the easy way out and Go with a Teaser. I suggest teasing Houston up to +9 and teasing the total up to 51 and taking the Under. Houston is an improved team and should find a way to keep it close, especially with how good their defense is. They cannot win a shootout, so I don't expect them to try. Big Ben has struggled in recent weeks, so I look for the Steelers to try and run the ball more in this one to take the pressure off him. I'll call for a 24-21 type game in this one.
