The Hawaii Warriors travel to the mainland on Saturday night to take on the San Diego State Aztecs in Mountain West college football action. The game is scheduled for a 10:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on the CBS Sports Network. Currently the odds for the game have the Aztecs favored by double digits in this one.
Hawaii heads to the mainland in this one to the beautiful city of San Diego. The Warriors picked up a win last week at home over Wyoming and now sit atop the Mountain West West Division. In traveling to the mainland twice this season, Hawaii already has a pair of losses to Colorado and Rice. The Warriors haven't been able to consistently score points in chunks this season, averaging less than 23 per contest. Defensively it's been a struggle as well with opponents averaging more than they score themselves. That might not be too big of an issue in this game tonight.
San Diego State averages just under 24 points per game themselves. The Aztecs love to run the football, piling up nearly 219 per game on average this season. They don't throw the football very well, but could have some nice opportunities against Hawaii tonight.
San Diego State has won four of the last six games in the series, covering the number in four of those contests. The home team is also 4-2 the last six contests as well and Hawaii hasn't won in San Diego since the 1988 season.
Donnel Pumphrey had a huge game last time out for the Aztecs with 246 yards on the ground. He scored twice in that game and San Diego State will be looking to feed him the football more tonight. Look for San Diego State to take the air out of the football, maximize their drives and score points.
The Aztec defense will cause problems for a Hawaii team that hasn't been able to figure it out completely this year. Playing at home also makes this a must-win game for San Diego State if they are wanting to play in a bowl game.
