The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets hit the road in college football action on Saturday night when they take on the North Carolina Tar Heels. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPNu. Currently the odds for the game have the Tar Heels listed as a small favorite at home.
North Carolina tried to pull a huge upset last week over Notre Dame, leading the game 14-0 but not being able to score enough points down the stretch. Now the Tar Heels return home to take on a Georgia Tech team that is going to bruise its way down the field, running nearly every down and moving the chains.
Yet, somehow Georgia Tech is favored. Makes you scratch your head. The Jackets have dominated this series, winning 14 of the last 16 matchups and yet are getting a point.
UNC has lost four straight games and scored 43 points against Notre Dame last week. Their lone wins on the season came over Liberty and San Diego State. While they haven't had the easiest schedule since then, the Heels still are unbackable at this point.
We know what Georgia Tech is going to bring to the table tonight. The Jackets average nearly 295 yards on the ground per game this season, ranking in the Top 10 nationally. They score points and play solid defense. Last week they dropped a tough 31-25 decision to Duke, but should be able to bounce back here.
This line has to be an overreaction to the Heels playing on national television last week and scoring 43 points against Notre Dame. The Irish were looking ahead to their contest with Florida State tonight and ended up having to battle a pesky Heels team.
And even though they are at home in this one, UNC just isn't on par with Georgia Tech.
