College Football Betting Odds Nevada Wolf Pack vs BYU Cougars Free Pick

Week 8 college football and the Nevada Wolf Pack will travel to Provo, Utah to take on the BYU Cougars. The game has a start time of 10:15 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on ESPN 2. Current Vegas odds have the Cougars listed as 12 point favorites, while the total is set at 58.

Analysis:  The Nevada Wolf Pack comes in with a 3-3 record on the year, including a 1-1 mark on the road. The have lost two in a row, including a 31-24 hard fought loss to Colorado State last week. The Wolf Pack are just 5-16 ATS in their last 21 games in October, but they are also 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games vs a team with a winning home record. Cody Fajardo is the leader of this offense and comes in having thrown for 1401 yards with 9 TDs and 6 INTs, while also leading the team in rushing with 405 yards and 6 more TDs. Overall this offense is rather average, as they come in ranked 69th in total yards, 67th in passing, 55th in rushing and 80th in scoring (28.5 ppg), while the defense has been bad for this team, ranking 105th in yards allowed ,122nd vs the pass, 66th vs the run and 71st in points allowed (26.5 ppg).

The BYU Cougars have lost Taysom Hill for the year and have also lost 2 in a row to fall to 4-2 on the year. Last week they played valiantly shorthanded, but still came up 7 points short in the OT loss to UCF. The Cougars are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games vs the MWC and 9-2-1 ATS in their last 12 games off a SU loss. With Taysom out, the burden of the offense falls on Christian Stewart, who has struggled so far, completing just 48.5% of his passes for 325 yards with 3 TDs and 4 INTs. Overall the Cougars are a very average offensive tea as they come in ranked 56th in total yards, 84th in passing, 31st in rushing and 52nd in scoring (32.3 ppg). The defense has been decent this year as they come in 59th in yards allowed, 117th vs the pass, 7th vs the run and 55th in points allowed (23.5 ppg).

Pick: Gonna look to Nevada in this game. BYU is not the same team without Taysom hill in there and there defense is not as stout as was expect this year. Even Before Taysom went out BYU was not playing dominant football, beating Virginia and Houston but just 8 points each in their 2 wins prior to the current 2 game losing streak. During their last 4 games the Cougars have allowed 31 ppg, compared to just 8.5 ppg in their first two games and now they face a solid Nevada offense that has averaged 28.5 ppg on the year. The Nevada defense is not all that good and BYU will score on them, but I just don't see the Cougars getting enough stops defensively to win this one easily.
