College Football Betting Odds Kentucky Wildcats vs LSU Tigers Free Pick

Week 8 of the college football season tonight and the Kentucky Wildcats will travel to Baton Rouge to take on the LSU Tigers. The game has a start time of 7:30 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on the SEC Network. Current Vegas odds have the Tigers listed as 10 point favorites, while the total is set at 50.

Analysis: The Kentucky Wildcats have quietly built up a 5-1 record, but that one loss just happens to be their lone road game of the year, which was at Florida. Still the Cats played well in that game losing 36-30 in OT, showing that they are a team on the rise. Kentucky is 4-1 ATS the last 5 in this series, but they are also 5-14 ATS in their last 19 conference games. Patrick Towles has had a nice year under center for Kentucky, throwing for 1541 yards with 10 TDs and 4 INTs, while also rushing for 112 yards and 2 more scores. He leads a very solid offense that ranks 38th in total yards, 43rd in passing, 52nd in rushing and 30th in scoring (36.5 ppg). The defense has been the biggest surprise this year after allowing 31 ppg and 427 ypg last year. This year they come in ranked 32nd in yards allowed, 20th vs the pass, 62nd vs the run and 15th in points allowed (18.7 ppg).

The LSU tigers are off a tough physical 30-27 win over the Florida gators in the Swamp. That win now has them at 5-2 on the year, which includes a 4-1 mark at home. The host is 6-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings, but the Tigers are just 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games off a SU win. QB Anthony Jennings has been average at best for the Tigers as he has hit just 50% of his passes for 928 yards, with 6 TDs and 3 INTs on the year. Leonard Fournette ran for 140 yards and 2 TDs vs a tough Florida defense and has now run for 504 yards and 6 TDs on the year. The LSU offense is rather average this year, ranking 67th in total offense, 95th in passing, 33rd in rushing and 37th in points scored (34.9 ppg). The defense has been very stout this year, ranking 29th overall, 7th vs the pass, 82nd vs the run and 17th in points allowed (19 ppg).

Pick: I like the Cats in this one and have been a fan of them all year. Mike Stoops is doing a great job here and they will be taking on an LSU team that is in a tough Florida/ Ole Miss sandwich. The Cats have really improved and come in with a 5-1 record on the year. Their lone loss was their lone road game, which was at Florida. Kentucky should have won that game, but eventually lost 36-30 in OT. LSU has been solid this year and are always tough at home, but they are also inconsistent and with Ole Miss on deck I look for this to be a flat spot for them vs a Kentucky squad that has revenge for last year’s 28 point loss.
