The Washington Redskins hit the road on Sunday to take on the Arizona Cardinals in NFL Football action. The game is scheduled for a 4:25 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on FOX. Currently the odds for the game have the Cardinals favored in this one.
Washington has fallen on some tough times. Only a 41-10 second week victory over the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars has the Redskins in the win column this season and they've lost three in a row. Arizona will be looking to make it four straight losses for Washington today, coming off their first loss of the season.
It looks as though Drew Stanton is going to play today after he passes the concussion protocol testing on Friday. The Cardinals are already playing without Carson Palmer due to injury and losing Stanton would make Logan Thomas see the field more than the team is probably comfortable with right now. Current Arizona quarterbacks have thrown just five TDs on the season, none of which have been caught by Michael Floyd or Larry Fitzgerald. Yet, the team finds themselves at 3-1 and winning games.
Defensively, the Cardinals are supposed to be solid. While they are very good against the run, sporting a Top 5 rush defense, the Cardinals have given up better than 302 yards through the air to opponents, per game, this season. That's the second worst number in the league.
Washington has lost its last eight road games, covering only twice in that span. They're losing by an average of 10 points per game in that time. But today, Kirk Cousins and the gang are looking to get it back on track.
While Arizona doesn't really do anything well offensively, Washington is very good at throwing the football. That might have something to do with being down in every game, but Cousins will certainly be looking to pitch it all over the yard today with the poor Arizona pass defense. Cousins is completing better than 61 percent of his passes, but does need to cut down the interceptions. If he can march the Redskins down the field in this one, look for them to pull an upset here.
