The Carolina Panthers hit the road to take on the Cincinnati Bengals in NFL Football action on Sunday. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on FOX. Currently the odds for the game have the Bengals favored by a touchdown in this one.
This is a huge situation for Carolina in a game that they believe they can win. Cincinnati is coming off a crushing defeat by the hands of the New England Patriots last week on national television. The Bengals are very good in home games, picking up wins in their last 11 contests in Cincinnati. They've covered the number in all 11 of those games as well, winning by an average of 17 points. But this could be the game where they not only fail to cover, but win.
Carolina is a physical football team that will be looking for a solid game on the road from quarterback Cam Newton. While he's obviously not at 100 percent and playing banged up, Newton still gives the Panthers a good shot to win no matter who they play. But scoring on the Bengals defense could pose to be tricky. Prior to the 43 points they surrendered to the Patriots last week, Cincinnati had given up just 11 points per game and allowed opponents to roll up just 318 yards. Now the Bengals are giving up 19 points per game, but that's still pretty solid.
Carolina has a pretty good defense, but they are giving up more points than they score themselves this season, almost a field goal extra to be exact.
The Panthers will look to get after Andy Dalton, who is playing without his best receiver in A.J. Green, who suffered an injury in practice earlier this season to his foot.
Without one of the best receivers in the game will probably hurt the Red Rocket, but will it be enough to give Carolina an edge?
The Panthers have dropped two straight to AFC opponents this season, getting beat by both Pittsburgh and Baltimore this year. They'll hang in this one, but Cincinnati will pick up the win because they are a better team right now.
