NFL Odds Kansas City Chiefs at San Francisco 49ers

49ers vs. Cardinals: Complete Week 3 Preview for San Francisco

The San Francisco 49ers welcome in the Kansas City Chiefs in NFL football action on Sunday. The game is scheduled for a 4:25 p.m. start time and it will be televise nationally on CBS. Currently the odds for the game have the 49ers favored by around a touchdown to get the job done.

San Francisco is battling some problems so far this season, but a win over the visiting Kansas City Chiefs would send the 49ers into next Monday night's game at St. Louis with some momentum. The 49ers will follow that game up with a Sunday night battle at Denver, so surely Jim Harbaugh and his team will want to get the job done here at home against a team they can beat.

San Francisco's overall defense needs to get better, allowing opponents to score an average of almost 23 points per game. San Francisco has actually given up one more point than they've scored this season, which just isn't typical of the 49ers the past few seasons. They are battling injuries and have defensive players out, but the 49ers still have a lot of talent on that side of the football.

Kansas City is coming off a couple of very solid wins, beating both Miami on the road and New England on Monday. They're playing on a short week and there is some travel there, but the Chiefs will be ready to go in this one. They have been running the football well with Knile Davis getting a ton of carries with Jamaal Charles banged up. Both should see the field today.

Alex Smith might be playing with a chip on his shoulder from his team in the Bay area. He might not have gotten a fair shake as his career came to an end with San Francisco, but now finds himself on another quality team. If he plays well and doesn't turn it over, the Chiefs should hang around in this one.

Offensively, Colin Kaepernick will play well enough for the 49ers here, making plays with both his plays and his arm. San Francisco needs to take care of business at home.
