NFL Free Pick Baltimore Ravens vs Indianapolis Colts

Week 5 of the 2014 season continues today as the Baltimore Ravens travel to Lucas Oil Stadium to take on the Indianapolis Colts. The game has a start time of 1:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on CBS. Current Vegas odds have the Colts listed as 3.5 point favorites, while the total is set at 49.

Analysis: The Baltimore Ravens come into this game at 3-1 on the year, with their lone loss being at home vs Cincinnati in the opening game of the season. This has not been a good series for them as they are just 1-8 ATS the last 9 in the series, including 0-3 ATS in their last 3 games played here. Justin Forsett has been solid in replace of Ray Rice as he has 255 yards rushing on 44 carries (5.8 ypc) thus far, while Joe Flacco has been decent so far, hitting 63.4% of his passes for 1055 yards with 7 TDs and just 2 INTs. Overall the Ravens are 6th in total offense, 12th in passing, 8th in rushing and 8th in scoring (25.8 ppg), while their defense ranks 13th overall, 24th vs the pass, 7th vs the run and 3rd in points allowed (15 ppg).

The Indianapolis Colts stated the year with two straight looses to the Broncos and the Eagles, but with the schedule a bit easier the last 2 weeks they have gone 2-0 and have outscored Jacksonville and Tennessee by a combined 85-34.The Colts are 7-1 ATS in games 5 thru 8 vs an opponent that is off a DD SU win, but they are also 1-6 ATS as favorites in the 2nd of BB home games. Andrew Luck has been the best QB in the league in the early going as he has a 108 QBR, throwing for 1305 yards yards, with 13 TDs and just 4 INTs so far. Trent Richardson has run for just 3.3 ypc, but he has run for 203 yards, while also having 122 yards receiving and at 11.1 yards per pop. Overall the Indy offense ranks 2nd overall, 1st in passing, 18th in rushing and 1st in scoring (34 ppg), while their defense is ranked 19th overall, 21st vs the pass, 11th vs the run and 16th in points allowed (23.8 ppg).

Pick: I will be going with the over in this one. The Colts have been throwing the ball all over the field this year and I see them doing that here as well vs a Baltimore Defense that ranks 24th in the league vs the pass. Andrew Luck is having a great year and I just don't see the the Baltimore defense being able to contain him and his solid set of WRs. The Colts will score and the Ravens will have to pass as well if they hope to keep pace with this team. Flacco has been solid in leading this offense and he should have his fair share of good moments vs a Colts defense that is 21st vs the pass. Let's also note here that game 5 dome favorites have gone 15-3 to the over since 2000. This one should be fun and both offenses should let it all hang out in that game that should flirt with 60 points.
