Thursday Night Football Minnesota Vikings vs Green Bay Packers Free Pick

Thursday night NFL and we will see the Minnesota Vikings take on the Green Bay Packers in Landover, Maryland. The game has a start time of 8:25 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on CBS. Current Vegas odds have the Packers listed as 7.5 point favorites, while the total is set at 47.5.

Analysis: What a game the Vikings had vs the Falcons, as they racked up 558 yards of offense, including 317 yards through the air in their 41-28 win over the Falcons. Teddy Bridgewater got his first NFL start in that game and gave us a glimpse of the future, as he threw for 317 yards on 19 of 30 passes. He had no TD passes, but also led them on 8 scoring drives and threw no picks as well. Teddy did injury his ankle at the end of the game and his status for this one is still up in the air. Should he not go then it will be Christian Ponder to run te show.  The Vikings are still a mediocre offensive team as they come in ranked 20th in total offense (344.2 ypg) and 18th in scoring (22.8 ppg), while the defense has been average as well, ranking 17th in yards allowed (354.2 ypg) and 9th in points allowed (21 ppg). The Vikings are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 trips to Green Bay.

The Packers had a rough 1-2 start to the year and Aaron Rodgers to Packer fans to relax and he was right as they came out and beat Chicago 38-17 on the road. Even though the Packers put up 358 yards overall, including 302 yards through the air in that game, their offense has been sluggish this year overall, ranking 28th in total offense (306.5 ypg), 15th in passing (233.5 ypg) and 17th in scoring. This is not all Rodgers fault, as he is behind a terrible OL and the run game has averaged just 73 ypg, so they have been no help either. Still Rodgers has hit 68% of his passes for 998 yards, with 9 TDs and just 1 INT on the year. The defense has not been much help either, as they come in ranked 25th in yards allowed (389.8 ypg), 32nd vs the run (175.8 ypg) and 18th in points allowed (24 ppg). The Pack is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games after scoring 35+ points.

Pick: This one is a tough one for a side and total, but if I had a lean it would be on the Under. Still what i will do here is play a same game 6 point teaser, teasing the Packers down to 2 and the OU line up to 53.5 and take the under. Teddy may play for the Vikings, but still may not be at a full 100%. Green Bay at home should win by at least a TD here and I see both defenses holding up just enough to keep this one under 50 points. 27-20 sounds about right here.
