The San Francisco 49ers welcome in the Philadelphia Eagles in NFL football action Sunday afternoon. The game is scheduled for a 4:25 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on FOX. Currently the odds for the game have the 49ers favored by a comfortable margin in this one.
San Francisco could really benefit from a victory today against the Eagles. Jim Harbaugh's team sits at just 1-2 on the season, tying them for last place with the St. Louis Rams in the NFC West.
Philly, on the other hand, has raced out to a 3-0 start on the year having come from behind in all three of their games. The Eagles are the first team in NFL history to come from behind after trailing by double digits in their first three games. Chip Kelly's team won their only road game of the season a couple of weeks ago, knocking off Indianapolis by a field goal. Philadelphia has been on fire, going 10-1 dating back to last season while averaging better than 33 points in those games.
The Eagles obviously will love to throw the football as Nick Foles is second-best in the league at better than 310 yards per game. Certainly getting LeSean McCoy involved in the running game will also be a prime objective. But it won't be easy as the Eagles are battling a number of injuries on the offensive line.
Harbaugh's defense will want to make some progress in this one. They, too, are battling some injuries and it will be interesting to see how the Eagles play on a natural grass from Levi's Stadium.
Colin Kaepernick could have a big game here, as well. He's definitely heard about the 49ers blowing second half leads in the last two games. If Kaepernick can't get his team on the right track they're going to have a real problem.
But San Francisco has always played well under Harbaugh as a favorite n home games — going 15-7-1 against the number.
San Francisco needs a win. Expect the defense to play well and the offense to run the ball better against this Eagles team. The 49ers can't blow another second half lead can they?
