The Auburn Tigers welcome in the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs in college football action Saturday afternoon. The game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on the SEC Network. Currently the odds for the game have the Tigers favored by a comfortable margin in this one.
Auburn survived a big test last week on Thursday night in Manhttan, Kansas. The Tigers didn't play the best game but were able to get the job done anyway. Kansas State did squander several options to score points, but it didn't matter as Auburn survived and continues to be in the top of the rankings.
The extra few days off should help them get ready and hopefully focused to take on a Tech team that can score points. But the Bulldogs suffered a really bad loss last week to Northwestern State. Instead of coming into this game with some confidence and riding high after winning three straight games, the Bulldogs dropped their home opener to a team from the Southland.
The Tigers have gone 11-0-1 straight up against Louisiana Tech and have won all eight matchups since 1989. They welcome in the Bulldogs for what is La Tech's fourth road battle in their first five showdowns. What could have been a pretty decent start to the season is going to be spoiled because of their loss last week to the Demons. A win there would put them at a presumed 3-2 because they're not beating Auburn. Nick Marshall will lead the Tiger offense up and down the field and make it look pretty easy.
Cody Sokol can whip it all over the yard and he's already thrown for 10 TDs and 1,000 yards on the year. Auburn's secondary is a little better than their three previous opponents (not Oklahoma, however), but still expect Tech to move the football in this one.
The Tigers, of course, could be looking ahead to LSU next week as well. That little amount of focus on another team will make this one interesting for a few minutes.
