The Nebraska Cornhuskers welcome in the Illinois Fighting Illini in college football action on Saturday. The game is scheduled for a 9 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on the Big Ten Network. Currently the odds for the game have the Cornhuskers favored by almost three touchdowns in this one.
This one should be fun. Big Ten games are typically played early on Saturdays, but Nebraska and Illinois will take to the field in a rare late night contest in this contest and the Huskers will be looking to avoid laying an egg in this one. They had the big win last week in hosting Miami and have looked very impressive all season.
Averaging better than 45 points this season and rolling up 329 yards on the ground per game, Nebraska's offense looks like they are in line for a pretty solid season when they have the football. But there might be a potential look-ahead spot here for the Huskers as they travel to take on No. 9 Michigan State next week in East Lansing. Had this game been played early in the day, the possible upset might be more plausible. But playing in the second of five straight prime time matchups has to have Nebraska spirits riding high.
Ameer Abdullah has looked very solid to start the year by rushing for better than 600 yards so far and registering seven total touchdowns. The Huskers will want to feed him the football as much as possible in this one
Illinois is 3-1, but it's a soft 3-1. The Fighting Illini have beaten Youngstown State, Western Kentucky and Texas State this season. Their lone road game ended up in a 44-19 beatdown to Washington a few weeks back.
Nebraska is better in all facets of the game here. Look for them to win comfortably and cruise in the second half.
