Michigan Wolverines vs Minnesota Golden Gophers College Football Odds

Michigan Football: 5 Keys to the Game vs. Minnesota

The Michigan Wolverines look to get back on track when they host the Minnesota Golden Gophers in college football action on Saturday. Currently the college football odds for the game have the Wolverines favored by double digits to pick up the win.

Michigan has to figure it out or Brady Hoke will be on the outside by the end of the season. The Wolverines have been awful offensively, not being able to move the football and leading the country in turnovers. They haven't been able to force turnovers defensively, either and have a -10 turnover differential this season.

Michigan has dominated this series and done well for themselves in Big Ten openers. The Wolverines have picked up 22 of the last 23 games against Minnesota in the rivalry and own a 39-3 record against the Gophers the last 42 meetings. They play for the Little Brown Jug, one of the oldest trophies in college football.

The Wolverines have won 31 of their last 32 Big Ten openers and 44 of their last 46. They've opened the conference slate against Minnesota three times previously, picking up wins all three times in 1926, 2011 and 2013.

Minnesota comes into the contest with a 3-1 record, beating the three teams they are better than in Eastern Illinois, Middle Tennessee State and San Jose State. Their only road tilt of the season saw the Golden Gophers get drilled at TCU 30-7.

Defensively Minnesota has held those teams to an average of less than 21 points per game. If they can play well defensively against Michigan and force the Wolverines into turning the football over, the Golden Gophers are going to hang around in this one.

Michigan opened as a touchdown favorite, but they are now laying two touchdowns. Someone knows something.
