The Michigan Wolverines welcome in the Miami University RedHawks in college football action Saturday. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on the Big Ten Network. Currently the odds for the game have the Wolverines favored at home by better than four touchdowns.
Michigan got embarrassed last weekend in South Bend, falling 31-0 to Notre Dame in the final matchup between the schools. It was the first time the maize and blue had been shutout since 1984, dating back 365 games. But Michigan gets a bit of a rebound in this one as it will welcome in 0-2 Miami has had a tough go early on — losing to Marshall 42-27 and Eastern Kentucky 17-10. Marshall is going to be a very good football team this season and absolutely could run the tables this season and not lose a game. That, at least, is a decent loss if there is such a thing. The defeat to Eastern Kentucky isn't the best. The Colonels will be a good team themselves, but they are members of the Ohio Valley, which is a step below even what the RedHawks play in with the MAC.
Michigan head coach Brady Hoke is on the proverbial hot seat, despite athletic direction Dave Brandon saying otherwise. Hoke has not taken Michigan to the next level as expected when he was hired. While they lost to Notre Dame last week, a big win here and a victory over Utah next week will have the Wolverines in a good spot heading into the Big Ten Conference season.
These schools have played five times previous to Saturday's game, with Michigan winning all five previous games. Michigan has only lost once all-time to a MAC school, back in 2008 against Toledo.
Dating back the last decade, Michigan has gone 10-0 the week following the Notre Dame game.
When the Wolverines don't turn the football over, they're a very tough team. QB Devin Gardner had four turnovers against Notre Dame and never could get the offense going. Expect the Wolverines to work on their offense in this one much like their opener over Appalachian State. The Wolverines need to get back on track and they should have no problems here.
