College Football Baylor Bears at Buffalo Bulls Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

Can the Oklahoma Sooners' D Slow Down Bryce Petty and the Baylor Bears?

The Baylor Bears, now ranked eighth in the polls, hit the road to take on the Buffalo Bulls in college football action Friday night. The game is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the odds for the game have Baylor favored to pick up the win, on the road, by several touchdowns.

Baylor has marched to a 2-0 record to start the season, picking up wins over SMU (45-0) and Northwestern State (70-6). Bryce Petty didn't play against Northwestern State as he recovers from an injury. Seth Russell did a pretty good job stepping in for Petty against the Demons, accounting for six touchdowns and better than 400 yards passing in the win.

Buffalo is playing in their second home game of the season after knocking off Duquesne in the opening week of the season by 10 points. They lost to Army last week on the road and probably won't be picking up a win here against Baylor.

The Bears have obviously been very good offensively so far this season, averaging almost 650 yards per game.

This will be Baylor's first road game of the season and their first of three straight road tilts. They open the Big 12 season in their next game, which will be two weeks after this game with Buffalo as they take on Iowa State and Texas in back-to-back road games.

These two schools have met three times the past eight seasons with Baylor winning and covering all three spreads. Petty didn't play a lot in this one last year, throwing for 388 yards on 13 completions. The Bear starters played only a couple of quarters but Baylor went on to win 70-13, starting their span of scoring at least 70 points four of five games.

It's hard to see Buffalo competing in this one or covering the huge number. Baylor has looked very strong again this season. Buffalo does a pretty good job running the football, so they might be able to chew up some clock in this one, but the Bears score too quickly.

This should be a lopsided contest with Baylor winning. Even if Petty doesn't play a lot, he will still have almost two extra weeks to get ready physically for the start of conference play.

Free Pick: Baylor 55, Buffalo 13
