Pro Football Odds Buffalo Bills vs Chicago Bears Free Pick

NFL Week 1 and we will see the Buffalo Bills travel to the Windy City to take on the Chicago Bears. The game has a start time of 1:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on FOX. Current Vegas odds have the Bears listed as 7 point favorites, while the total is set at 47.

Analysis: The Buffalo Bills are off another disappointing season, as they went just 6-10 last year and now haven’t made it to the playoffs since 1999. This year that streak should continue. Last year the Bills were ranked 22nd in the league in scoring, at 21.2 ppg, while also ranking 19th in total yards (338 ypg), 26th in passing (193.9 ypg) and 2nd in rushing (144.2 ypg). CJ Spiller was a big part of that ground attack and he is back along with a healthy EJ Manuel, but Mauel did have a horrible spring and may relinquish the QB duties to Ryan Nassib at some point. Defensively, the Bills were pretty decent last year, ranking 20th in points allowed (24.2 ppg), 10th in yards allowed (333.4 ypg), 4th vs the pass (204.4 ypg) and 28th vs the run (128.9 ypg). The Defense is anchored by Mario Williams, who had 13 sacks last year, including a club record 4.5 sacks vs Carolina in week 2. The defensive line is one of the best in the league.

The Chicago Bears went just 8-8 last year, but they come into this season with high hopes, thanks to an explosive offense and a much improved defense. Jay Cutler leads this offense that put up 27.8 ppg last year and could be more explosive this year, especially with the wideout duo of Alshon Jeffrey and Brandon Marshall, plus the running of Matt Forte, who just may be the best back in the league. The Bears offense will also set up behind one of the best OLs in the league. The defense was a mess last year, but chicago did adress that with a solid draft and some go FA acquisitions, including DE Jared Allen. Overall this is a much improved team that may very well push the Packers for the NFC North title.

Pick:  I am going to look at the Under in this one. The Bears have a high powered offense and a suspect defense, but the Bills offense is nothing special and will be a bit more pedestrian with EJ Manuel in there. Buffalo will really look to pound the ball at a Bears defense that was last in the league vs the run last year and that will chew clock. The Bills come in with a top 5 rated DL and a top 5 rated secondary and will slow down the Bears enough to keep this one from going over the total.
