NFL Week 1 and we will see the San Francisco 49ers travel to Dallas, Texas to take on the Dallas Cowboys. The game has a start time of 4:25 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on FOX. Current Vegas odds have the Niners listed as 3.5 point favorites, while the total is set at 51.
Analysis: The San Francisco 49ers went 12-4 last year and made it all the way to the NVC Title game, before falling to the eventual champs by a 23-17 score. This year they come n with plenty of distractions and many questions on both sides of the ball and could struggle to get back to the post season. The offense is led by Colin Kaepernick, but he is really coming off a bad spring and even the running game struggled thanks to weak OL play. The defense looked strong coming into the season, but suspensions and injuries on this side of the ball have really put them in a hole to start the year. It is not good to have this many questions marks when playing in the NFC west.
The Dallas Cowboys had a mediocre 8-8 year last year, finishing 2nd in the NFC East, while missing the playoffs for the fourth straight year. This year Dallas looks like a team that could be the worst in the division. Last year the Dallas offense was ranked 5th in scoring, at 27.4 ppg, while also ranking 16th in total yards (341.1 ypg), 14th in passing (247.1 ypg) and 24th in rushing (94.0 ypg). Despite throwing for 3800 yards, 31 TD’s and just 10 INT.s, Tony Romo took most of the blame for the Cowboys failure to make the playoffs again. It is rather unfair. Romo wasn’t responsible for a crappy offensive line, or all the dropped ball he WRs had or a running that that produced just 94 ypg. He also wasn’t responsible for a poor defense that looks to be just as bad this year.
Pick: Going to look the way of the Niners here. This is a team that has had much turmoil during the preseason, but i expect them to put that all behind and play a very good game here against a Dallas team that looks just a mes right now. The Cowboys defense may be the worst in the league and will have problems stopping a San Fran offense that is out to show that they don't have the issues that they showed in the preseason. The Niners defense is missing some key personnel, but still they will be facing a Dallas team that has a weak running game and OL. Look for the Niners to win by at least a TD.
