Indianapolis Colts at Denver Broncos NFL Betting Odds

Colts vs. Broncos: Breaking Down Indianapolis' Game Plan

The Indianapolis Colts take on the Denver Broncos tonight in Sunday Night Football. The game is scheduled for an 8:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on NBC. Currently the odds for the game have Denver favored to pick up this win at home.

Indianapolis Colts +7½ +100 +315 Ov 53 -110 Ov 23 -110 Un 23 -120
Denver Broncos -7½ -120 -375 Un 53 -110 Ov 30½ -125 Un 30½ -105

The Denver Broncos are still one of the best teams in football. Sure, they were embarrassed in last year's Super Bowl by the Seattle Seahawks, but tonight starts a new NFL season and the Broncos are at the top of the list of contenders. They still have Peyton Manning and that's never a bad thing.

Wes Welker obviously won't play in this game. Not only is he battling concussions, but he also got bounced for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Manning also lost Eric Decker in free agency to the New York Jets, so two of his better options (at least from last year) are now gone. But having Demarius Thomas and newly acquired Emmanuel Sanders on the club certainly lessens the problem.

DeMarcus Ware comes over from the Cowboys and Von Miller is back at 100 percent. Both will look to get after Andrew Luck and control that line of scrimmage for the Broncos tonight. Luck is flourishing in his short time in the league and is going to continue to excel, but tonight expect him to be hurried all game.

Last year, Indy won this game. In fact, Luck has guided the Colts to a 10-6 number against the spread when the Colts are getting points. Indy is going to want to establish their running game with Trent Richardson getting the bulk of the carries. The Colts have a sneaky group of wide receivers as well that Luck can get the football to, led by Reggie Wayne. Both T.Y. Hilton and Hakeem Nicks should help make the Colts an offense that can stretch the field vertically this season.

This should be a good game, but Denver's defense should be the difference here. They are expected to be better than last season and they should be. Luck is going to get pressured all night and that could cause a mistake or two. Look for Denver to get the win, but this won't be a blowout.

Free Pick: Broncos 31, Colts 23
