The New England Patriots begin their NFL season on the road today when they take on the Miami Dolphins. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on CBS. Currently the odds for the game have the Patriots favored by just over a field goal on the road.
Tom Brady and the Patriots have been the staple of consistency in the regular season for a while now. This year's Patriots team has Super Bowl aspirations and Brady is looking for an MVP caliber season. If New England's defense can improve from last season they can be a serious contender in the AFC this season.
In this game, look for the Patriots to look for pressure up front on a brand new Miami offensive line. The Dolphins have several new guys up front and it looks like Miami could be bolstering themselves for a new look offensively.
There's a revenge angle here, too, for Brady and the Pats as they went into Miami late in the season a year ago and lost. But the Patriots have done well for themselves (and backers) the past four seasons against Miami — New England sports a 5-2-1 mark against the number against the Fish during that time.
In case you didn't hear, Darrelle Revis is now playing for the Patriots, but is still coming off knee surgery. The Patriot defense could determine the outcome of this one and we expect them to play well. Last season Miami didn't run the football consistently and didn't look good in the preseason either, averaging just 3.4 yards per carry.
The Patriots are just better than Miami. Ryan Tannehill and the Fish can win games against solid teams at home, but it doesn't look like this one is going to go their way. Brady and the boys will be scoring points, have revenge and are looking to get the season off the right way.
