Michigan State Spartans vs Oregon Ducks Odds, Free Pick

College Football week 2  and the Michigan State Spartans will travel to Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon to take on the Oregon Ducks. The game has a start time of 6:30 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on FOX. Current Vegas odds have the Ducks listed as 13.5 point favorites, while the total is set at 56.5.

Analysis: What year the Michigan State Spartans had as they went 13-1 on the year, which included A big 10 title game win over Ohio State and a Rose Bowl win over Stanford. This year they have 12 starters and look every bit ready to successfully defend their Big 10 Title. Michigan State started off this year in fine fashion with a 45-7 win over FCS foe Jacksonville State. Coming into the year the Spartans were really excited about their offense and they started of well for sure, racking up 565 yards overall, including 364 yards through the air. Connor Cook had a big game hitting 12 of 13 passes for 285 yards and that translates to a 21.9 ypa. Tony Lippett was his favorite target as he caught 4 passes for 167 yards (41.8 ypc average) and 2 TDs. Defensively the Spartans were solid, allowing just 244 yards overall and 22 yards on the ground.

The Oregon Ducks are off an 11-2 year in which they finished 9th in the polls and beat Texas in the Alamo Bowl, but they are still not satisfied in Eugene. This year they look for an invite to the College Football playoff and with 13 starters back, including a Heisman Trophy candidate at QB, they have a shot at doing so. Oregon also took on an FCS opponent in week 1 and had a blowout win as well, taking down South Dakota State by a 62-13 score. The offense for the Ducks was as impressive as always, as they racked up 673 yards overall, including 380 yards through the air and 293 yards on the ground. Very balanced as always. Marcus Mariota hit 14 of 20 passes for 287 yards and 3 TDs, while also rushing for 43 yards and another TD. Bryon Marshall led the team in rushing with 90 yards, while also leading them in receiving yards as well with 138. He had 2 TDs on the day, both receiving. The Oregon defense was decent as they allowed 370 yards in the game.

Pick:  Just too many points for the Ducks to be laying here, especially since the Ducks have struggled the last few years vs teams that are physical on defense. The Spartans are in the same mold as the Stanford Cardinal, but one thing they have really added is a stronger offense this year. That offense now compliments one of the best defenses in the nation and I feel that that is really where the Spartan can keep the game close. Oregon can score, but have been held to less than 21 points in their last 2 meetings with Stanford and as I said, these team are mirror images of each other. Look for this game to come down to the wire.
