College Football Arkansas State Red Wolves at Tennessee Volunteers Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

Tennessee Football: What Butch Jones Must Accomplish in 2014

The Tennessee Volunteers welcome in the Arkansas State Red Wolves in college football action Saturday. The game is scheduled for a noon start time and it will be televised live on the SEC Network. Currently the odds for the game have Tennessee as a multi-touchdown favorite.

Many thought Tennessee would struggle last week with Utah State, but the Volunteers pounded the Aggies and looked good doing it. It'd be tough to call that game a "statement win" but Tennessee did what they had to. Their upcoming schedule, however, is brutal as the Vols have back-to-back road games at Oklahoma and Georgia before taking on Florida the next three games. That makes this game against Arkansas State that much bigger — if the Vols can pick up a win and not deal with any injuries, they should consider this one a success.

Arkansas State is 8-2 against the number the last three seasons when they were getting points on the road. The Red Wolves have played that underdog role nicely the past couple years with coaches who went on to take higher profile gigs. Current coach Blake Anderson seems to be in that same type of mold — play anybody, have no problem doing it and hope to pull off an upset here and there. They're going to get a couple of shots with back-to-back road tilts at Tennessee here and next week at Miami.

They very well could knock off the Vols in Knoxville this week — the pedigree of Arkansas State is strong and their players believe they can win every week. The program  has rolled up 29 wins the last three seasons plus last week's win. Tennessee, on the other hand, hasn't had a winning campaign since the 2009 season when they finished 7-6. In non-conference, however, the Vols have won 11 straight at home.

Tennessee did win the only prior meeting between these schools, a 48-27 victory back in 2007.

This one is going to be a solid contest. Arkansas State is getting quite a bit of points in this one, but with the games Tennessee has coming up on deck, we see them cruising in the second half and picking up a comfortable win.

Free Pick: Tennessee 35, Arkansas State 24
