The college football season begins Wednesday night when the Abilene Christian Wildcats take on the Georgia State Panthers. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPNu. Currently the odds for the game have Georgia State favored by a little less than a touchdown.

This is the first game of the college football season and both clubs are looking to make an impact.
The Panthers finished last season with an 0-12 record and they graduated 27 seniors from that club. Trent Miles is trying to build a winning program there in Atlanta and is hopeful they can get past last season's results.
Georgia State doesn't have a lot of depth, but they do have a quarterback battle going on with several guys trying to win the job. Ronnie Bell was their QB last season and he threw for better than 2,500 yards, so he does have some talent. However, he was not named the starter for this game as coach Miles gave the nod to Nick Arbuckle.
Abilene Christian, a member of the Southland Conference, went 6-5 last season. They're making the jump from being a Division 2 school and aren't eligible for the FCS playoffs this season because of that. They're young at several positions.
Abilene Christian is a place where transfers from bigger schools come to play, but we don't see them winning this game tonight. Georgia State was simply not a good team last season and we're not expecting them to win a lot of games this season, but we think they win this game here tonight.
