Analysis: Just two days ago it looked as if the Angels might start to pull away in this division, but they lost the first 2 games of the series to fall back into a tie with the A's for both the AL West division and for best record in baseball. The Angels are a strong offensive team that ranks 3rd in the league in scoring (4.66 rpg), 5th in hitting (.259) and 11th in homers (121). The pitching has been racked with inconsistency and injuries all year, but is still 12th in the league in ERA (3.58) and 6th in WHIP (1.21). Tonight Jered Weaver gets the ball and he comes in at 13-7 with a 3.70 ERA overall, while on the road he has gone 6-3 with a 4.82 ERA. Jered is 5-5 with a 3.43 ERA in 15 career starts in this park. 

The Oakland A's had lost their division lead in the AL West, but after taking the first 2 games in this series they have now tied the Angels for the division lead. The A's come in leading the league in scoring at 4.80 rpg, while also ranking 19th in hitting (.250) and 6th in homers (128). The pitching for the A's has really been solid as they come in ranked 4th in ERA (3.23) and 2nd in WHIP (1.17). Getting the ball for the A's tonight will be Scott Kazmir, who is 14-5 with a 2.73 ERA on the year, while at home he has gone 8-2 with a 2.28 ERA. Scott has struggled with the Halos, going just 2-3 with a 4.66 ERA in 5 career starts vs them. This will be his first start vs the Angels this year.  

Pick: I am going to be looking at the over in this one. The A's have started to hit a little of late and they are the top scoring team in the league. The Angels are the 3rd best scoring team in the league and they have done well vs Kazir in his career as he has a 4.66 ERA in 5 career starts vs them. Jered Weaver has been solid at home this year, but on the road he has a 4.82 ERA, plus he sports a 3.43 ERA in this park. I see both offenses having a good night in what is a HUGE game for both teams. 9 runs or more scored here.
