Sunday Night Football Kansas City Chiefs vs Carolina Panthers Free Pick

Sunday night preseason football and we will see the Kansas city Chiefs travel to Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina to take on the Carolina Panthers. The game has a start time of 8:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on Fox. Current Vegas odds have the Panthers listed as 3 point favorites, while the total is set at 41.

Analysis: The Kansas City Chiefs had a wild game last week as they beat the Cincinnati Bengals by a 41-39 score. In the game the Chiefs were aided by 2 INT's returns for TDs and 1 punt return for TD. The Chiefs offense put up a modest 310 yards overall, while the ground attack was solid with 140 yards. Chase Daniel got most of the reps for the Chiefs and was 8 of 10 for 126 yards, a TD and an INT. Alex Smith was in for 3 series' and hit 3 of 5 passes for just 19 yards. Cyrus Gray led the team in rushing with 55 yards, while Travis Kelce had 2 catches for 73 yards. The defense for the Chiefs struggled some, as they allowed 376 yards of total offense, including 180 yards on the ground.

The Carolina Panthers started their preseason with a 20-18 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Cam Newton did not play in the game, but he was cleared to play. He should get the start in this game. Joe Webb got the majority of the snaps and was 16 of 28 for 180 yards, a TD and an INT in the game. Both Tavarres King and Brandon Williams had 50 yards receiving each, while Joe Webb led the team in rushing with 30 yards. The defense was solid vs the pass, allowing 175 yards, but the Bills were able to run on them a bit with 128 yards on the ground. Penalties were a problem for this team as they committed 9 of them.

Pick:  Going with the Panthers in this one. The Chiefs really got lucky with last weeks win as they had 3 non-offensive TDs in the game and their defense was shredded for 39 points. Alex Smith may get some more reps in this one, but he will be facing tougher defense then he did last week vs the Bengals and he only threw for 19 yards in that game. The Panthers stuggled offensively last week but their defense had a good showing and I expect that in this one as well. Look for the Panthers to bounce back with a solid win tonight.
