NFL Preseason Baltimore Ravens vs Dallas Cowboys Free Pick

Saturday night preseason football and we will see the Baltimore Ravens travel to AT&T Stadium in Texas to take on the Dallas Cowboys. The game has a start time of 7:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised locally. Current Vegas odds have the Ravens listed as 1 point favorites, while the total is set at 42.5.

Analysis: The Ravens had a solid outing in their game vs the San Francisco 49ers, winning the game by a 23-3 count. This was a complete game by them as they gained 386 yards while allowing the Niners just 187 total yards. The Ground game for the Ravens was particularly good, as they racked up 237 yards on 48 carries (4.9 ypc). Leading that ground attack was Lorenzo Taliaferro, who ran for 71 yards on just 13 carries. QB Tyrod Taylor had a good game as he threw for 116 yards and was 2nd on the team in rushing with 59 yards on just 5 carries. Joe Flacco was in for just 1 series and completed 4 of 5 pass for 52 yards.  He and the rest of the starters should get some more reps in this game.

The Dallas Cowboys had a mediocre 8-8 year last year, finishing 2nd in the NFC East, while missing the playoffs for the fourth straight year. The Cowboys did not look good on either side of the ball in their 27-7 loss to the Chargers in week 1 of the preseason. They look for much better showing in this game. Tony Romo didn't play at all in the game, but Brandon Weedon actually looked good, throwing for 107 yards and a TD on 13 of 17 passing. Romo is expected to see time in this game. Joseph Randle led the team in rushing (50 yards) while Devin Street led the team in receiving yards with 43. The Cowboys used 7 of their last 8 picks in the Draft to bolster their defense, but they still have plenty of work to do after allowing 395 yards, including 152 yards on the ground to the Chargers.

Pick:  Going to look to the Over in this one. The Cowboys defenses is bad and whether it is the preseason or the regular season it will be bad. This team drafted for defense this year, but still it will struggle this year and going up against a no-huddle attack of the Ravens won't help. The Ravens last week put up 386 yards of total offense, including 237 on the ground vs a vaunted San Fran defense. Now they take on a Cowboys defense that allowed the Chargers 395 yards of total offense last week, including 152 on the ground. I do expect some more reps from Flacco in this one, which should mean a bit more passing and that running game for the Ravens should really open up some lanes deep for Flacco and company to hit their receivers. The Cowboys offense is much better than they showed last week in San Diego, plus Romo will play in this one and that should really help the Dallas offense early and after Romo we will see Weedon, who had a nice game last week. The Ravens had a nice game vs the Niners on defense last week, but still this is not a great defense and should struggle vs a motivated Dallas offense in this one. I'll call for at least 45 points in this one.
