Friday Night Football San Diego Chargers vs Seattle Seahawks

Friday night preseason football and we will see the San Diego Chargers travel to CenturyLink Field in Seattle to take on the Seattle Seahawks. The game has a start time of 10:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on NFL Network. Current Vegas odds have the Seahwaks listed as 6 point favorites, while the total is set at 38.5.

Analysis: The San Diego Chargers surprised many last year by going 9-7 on the year and making it to the 2nd round of the NFL playoffs, before bowing out to Denver. Now the Chargers are looking for bigger things in Mike McCoy’s second season as head coach. I know it was preseason, but year two got off to a nice start as the Chargers beat the Dallas Cowboys 27-7. The Chargers were very good on both sides of the ball, piling up 395 yards of total offense, while allowing just 274 yards. Philip Rivers played sparingly and was 4-4 for 61 yards. Kellen Clemons had a real nice game for San Diego, as he was 5-5 for 134 yards and 1 TD. WR Dontrelle Innman led the team with 3 catches for 107 yards and a TD, while Branden Oliver had 7 carries for 64 yards and a TD. Overall this chargers team looked good on both sides of the ball.

Seattle comes in off a hard fought 21-16 loss to the Denver Broncos, in a game was delayed for 45 minutes because of lightning with 1:30 remaining in the first quarter. The Broncos were able to get a measure of revenge fter last years crushing SB defeat at the hands of these Seahawks. Seattle was able to must just 298 yards of offense, including just 94 on the ground. Russell Wilson played just a little and was 4-6 for 37 yards. Terrell Pryor had a solid game, throwing for 137 yards, while also leading the team in rushing with 28 yards. Paul Richardson was the top receiver for the Seahawks, catching 4 balls for 37 yards. The defense din't play all that bad for Seattle, as they allowed Denver just 158 yards passing and 274 yards overall.

Pick:  I am going to look at the Under in this game. First lets note that these teams play each other in week two of the regular season and that should mean a very vanilla offensive game plan for this game as they don't want to show a whole lot here. Neither team was really explosive in game 1 on offense. The Chargers were better than Seattle, but San Diego also went up against a very poor Dallas defense. Seattle had their struggles on offense vs Denver and I look for then to have their struggles here vs a better San Diego defense. The Seattle defense looked in top form last week vs the Broncos, holding them to just 158 yards passing. They were run on for 116 yards and this could be a game where the Bolts will look to run a bit more. I see Seattle also running the ball plenty here. The Seehawks are 7-1 to teh OVER in week two of the preseason, but with the teams playing each other in week two of the regular season, This calls for a scaled down offense from botyh teams and that should keep the scoring around 31 points or less.
