The New York Giants and Buffalo Bills hit the field Sunday night in the NFL Hall of Fame Game. The game is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on NBC. The Bills are favored by a field goal in this one.
Well, the wait for the NFL to return has finally come to an end. It's only the preseason, but that means we are just that much closer to the NFL regular season. Tonight we see the New York Giants and Buffalo Bills take to the field in Canton, Ohio, home of the NFL's Hall of Fame.
Inducted into this year's class were Andre Reed of Bills lore, Michael Strahan of the New York Giants and Walter Jones, Derrick Brooks, Aeneas Williams, Ray Guy and Claude Humphrey. Guy finally got his due and was enshrined, bringing an end to the lengthy debate of whether a not a special teams player should be put into the Hall of Fame.
In this game, we have two teams from New York battle it out in what will be a showcase of backups, third stringers and players looking to make the roster. That's what the NFL preseason is all about, but it does allow teams to build their rosters and find depth in a full-blown game. While success in the preseason does not always correlate into having a good team.
On benefit to playing in the Hall of Fame game is that both teams will still get to play four full preseason games after this contest. Because of that, don't expect starters like Eli Manning to play more than a single series, if any plays at all. Without knowing who is going to play for either team, or how long, it's not recommended to take a side in this game if you're looking for some action.
