Sunday Night Baseball Free Pick Los Angeles Dodgers vs San Francisco Giants

Sunday night baseball and we will see the Los Angeles Dodgers take on the San Francisco Giants in game 3 of their 3 game series from AT&T Park in San Francisco. First pitch is scheduled for an 8:05 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised on ESPN.

Current Odds

Los Angeles               -120
San Francisco            +112

Over/ Under: 7 O -115

Analysis: The Los Angeles Dodgers  have taken the first 2 games of this series and in the process they have taken a half game lead over the San Francisco Giants in the NL West. The Dodgers have been a decent offensive team this year, ranking 11th in the league in scoring (4.17 rpg), 7th in hitting (.259) and 24th in homers (78). The pitching has been very solid for the Dodgers, as they rank 6th in the league in ERA (3.35) and 6th in WHIP (1.21). Getting the ball for the Dodgers tonight will be Hyun-Jin Ryu, who is 11-5 with a 3.39 ERA on the year overall, while on the road he is 7-2 with a 2.73 ERA. Ryu is 3-1 with a 3.07 ERA in his last 5 starts vs the Giants, while going 3-1 with a 2.46 ERA in 4 career starts in this park.

The San Francisco Giants have now lost 3 games in a row and have also lost their lead in the NL West as they are now behind the Dodgers by a half game. The Giants have been a below average offensive team this year, ranking 20th in scoring (3.90 rpg), 24th in hitting (.243) and 13th in homers (91). The pitching has been very good for this team, as they are 7th in ERA (3.37) and 3rd in WHIP (1.18). Getting the ball for the Giants tonight will be Jake Peavy, who was recently acquired in a trade with the Red Sox. Jake has had a horrible year thus far, going just 1-9 with a 4.72 ERA overall, while in games away from Fenway this year he has gone 1-6 with a 5.87 ERA. Jake has always pitched well for the Dodgers, as he is 14-2 with a 2.25 ERA in 25 career starts vs them.

Pick: Yes Jake Peavy has great numbers vs the Dodgers, but he has faced them just once since 2009. Allot has changed since then. He has gotten worse and the Dodgers have gotten better. LA is playing really well right now and the Giants offense has left them as they have score just 5 runs in their last 4 games. Facing Ryu will not be a cure for their offensive ails, as he has allowed 2 ER's or less in 7 of his last 10 starts and has a 2.73 ERA on the road, plus we note that he is 3-0 with a 1.32 ERA in his last 3 starts in this park. Just don't see the Giants scoring enough runs to win this one, especially with the Dodgers offense waking up, having scored 5.2 rpg in their last 5 games. LA Gets the sweep here.
