Analysis: The Cleveland Indians come in at 51-52 on the year and are currently 7.5 games behind the Tigers and in 3rd place in the AL Central. The Indians have been solid on offense this year, ranking 6th in the league in scoring (4.42 rpg), 14th in hitting (.254) and 10th in homers (99). The pitching has been not so great, as they rank 19th in the league in ERA (3.89) and 23rd in WHIP (1.33). Getting the ball for the Indians tonight will be Zach McAllister, who is just 3-5 with a 5.28 ERA on the year overall, while on the road he is 1-3 with a 5.59 ERA. Zach is 2-2 with a 4.94 ERA in 4 career starts vs the Royals.
The Royals won last night's game and picked up a game on the Detroit Tigers, who lost to the Angels. The Royals are 52-50 on the year and sit 6 games behind the Tigers in the AL Central. The Royals are a below average offensive team, as they rank 17th in scoring (3.98 rpg) and 30th in homers (60), but they do hit well, coming in with a .263 BA, which is 4th in the league. The pitching has been very average for this team, as they are 11th in ERA (3.66) and 15th in WHIP (1.29). Getting the ball for the Royals tonight will be Jeremy Guthrie, who is 5-9 with a 4.56 ERA on the year, while at home he is 3-5 with a 4.43 ERA. Jeremy is 4-5 with a 5.89 ERA in 12 appearances (10 Starts) vs the Indians.
Pick: I will be looking at the Over in this one. Zach McAllister has just been horrible for Cleveland this year as he has a 5.28 ERA overall and a 5.59 ERA on the road. The Royals have not been hitting the ball all that well, but they should break out vs McAllister, who also has a 4.94 ERA in 4 carer starts vs the Royals. Jeremy Guthrie has been just horrible of late, as he has a 10.83 ERA and a 2.29 WHIP in his last 3 starts. Jeremy also has a 4.43 ERA at home and a 6.41 ERA in his last 8 starts vs the Indians. Cleveland does average 4.76 rp/9 off of righties on the road this year. I see both offenses having a foeld day in this one.
