Major League Baseball Detroit Tigers vs Los Angeles Angels Odds, Free Pick

Friday night baseball and we will see the Detroit Tigers take on the Los Angeles Angels in game 2 of their 4 game series from Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California. First pitch is scheduled for a 10:05 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised locally.

Current Odds

Detroit               +110
Los Angeles       -120

Over/ Under: 8.5 O -115

Analysis: The Detroit Tigers have won 4 of their last 5 games, and they have a healthy 7 game lead over the Kansas City Royals in the AL Central. Detroit is 31-17 on the road this year and 17-11 vs the AL West. The Tigers have been a solid offensive team this year, ranking 3rd in the league in scoring (4.79 rpg), 2nd in hitting (.279) and 8th in homers (101). The pitching has been below average, as they rank 23rd in the league in ERA (4.03) and 19th in WHIP (1.32). Getting the ball for the Tigers tonight Drew Smyly, who is 6-8 with a 3.80 ERA on the year overall, while on the road he is 3-3 with a 4.20 ERA. Drew is 0-1 with a 5.00 ERA in 2 career starts vs the Halos.

LA lost game 1 of this series last night, but still the have the 2nd best record in all of baseball. The Halos are now 3 games behind the A's in the AL West. The Halos have been very good on offense this year, ranking 2nd in scoring (4.95 rpg), 3rd in hitting (.266) and 6th in homers (105). The pitching has been very average for this team, as they are 15th in ERA (3.79) and 8th in WHIP (1.23). Getting the ball for the Angels tonight will be Tyler Skaggs, who is 5-5 with a 4.65 ERA overall, while at home he is 1-2 with a 5.69 ERA. Tyler has never faced the Tigers.

Pick: Tonight we have two of the best offenses in the league going up against some very mediocre pitching, which has me really liking the Over here. Drew Smyly has a 4.20 ERA on the road and a 4.74 ERA in his last 3 starts overall, while Skaggs has a 5.69 ERA at home and a 6.87 ERA in his last 3 overall. Tyler has never faced the tigers, but that shouldn't be a problem for this solid Detroit offense that has averaged 6 rpg in their last 5 games and they have scored 5.88 rpg for Drew on the road. The Halos average 4.74 rpg and have scored 5.02 rp/9 off of lefties at home. Really had to see the pitching winning over the hitting in this one.
