A battle in the AL Central takes place tonight as the Cleveland Indians meet up with the Kansas City Royals. The game is scheduled for an 8:05 p.m. (EST) start time and it will be televised live on MLB.tv. Currently the Major League Baseball Odds for the game have Cleveland favored in this one on the road.
Cleveland and Kansas City are fighting for that second spot in the American League Central, but both are aways back of the Detroit Tigers. If either of them are able to run Detroit down, they're going to have to start stringing wins together in the division. Tonight Cleveland will look to take advantage of their decent second half start. They took three of four from Detroit and now are a single game over the .500 mark.
Kansas City, on the other hand, sits right at .500 with a 50-50 record. They're three games under the .500 mark in home games this season and are just 3-7 in their last 10 games overall.
The Royals are sending Danny Duffy to the mound — he's 5-10 this season, but has a 2.66 ERA. He's also 1-5 his last six starts overall but has posted a 2.41 ERA in those games as well. Kansas City scored just a combined four runs in those six starts. Tonight might be more of the same in this instance as they are taking on a real tough pitcher.
Corey Kluber has been real good all season, posting a 10-6 record with a sub-3.00 ERA on the year. He just beat the Detroit Tigers last week in a really solid outing and has been impressive in recent memory as well. Kluber has gone 4-1 with a 1.96 ERA in his last six starts overall.
Cleveland has a better offense, we think. Kluber has proven he is a better pitcher than Duffy, as well. It's no surprise that the Indians are favored in this one and we like the odds they are drawing.
