Major League Baseball Odds Texas Rangers vs New York Yankees

Introducing Yu Darvish and MLB's New Crop of Top Aces

The Texas Rangers and New York Yankees meet up on the field tonight in Major League Baseball action. The game is scheduled for a 7:05 p.m. (EST) start time and it will be televised nationally on MLB.tv. Currently the odds for the game have the Rangers favored on the road in this one.

Both of these teams have to be reeling from last night, where the game went 14 innings and the bullpens were taxed.

Yu Darvish has had another solid season on the mound for Texas, but the Rangers are the worst team in the league, losing 60 of their 100 games played so far this season. They're eight games under the .500 mark (22-30) on the season, but they're favored here tonight, only because Darvish is on the mound. So far this season he's posted a 9-5 record with one of the best ERAs in the league.

On the road this season Darvish has a 5-2 record. Those two losses came in three of his last road starts, one each to Oakland and the Los Angeles Angels. He gave up four earned runs in both of those starts. He didn't fare well against Houston a couple of starts ago, either. Darvish surrendered 10 hits, six earned runs and lost to the Astros in his own ballpark.

The Yankees have a legitimate shot to play in the post season, based a lot on their division. They are very good on the road and only sit four games back from the Baltimore Orioles. If they are able to find a way to get their rotation pieced together and get solid outings, the Yankees do have a shot to at least be in contention.

Tonight they will send David Phelps to the mound. He has posted a 2.52 ERA in his last three starts for the pinstripes and might have to pitch so well in this game, based on the Yankee offense.

New York has scored the second fewest runs in the American League. That's not a good recipe against a guy like Darvish on the hill. Tonight we like Texas to find a way to pick up this win on the road.
