The Detroit Tigers will take on the Arizona Diamondbacks tonight in the second game of their Interleague series. The game is scheduled for a 9:40 p.m. (EST) start time and it will be televised live on MLB.tv. The Major League Baseball Odds for the game have Detroit listed as the favorite on the road in this one.
The Tigers pulled out a 4-3 victory in last night's game, which saw Justin Verlander make a very nice start against the Diamondbacks. Tonight they'll give the ball to Rick Porcello, who is tied with the Yankees' Masahiro Tanaka for the most wins in the American League with 12 so far this year.
Porcello, who was spurned from the All-Star team this season, has a pretty solid ERA at 3.39 as well this year. He's a ground ball pitcher that gets hitters to swing at his type of pitches.
Detroit has won 12 of their last 15 games on the road. Porcello is awesome on the road as well, allowing just a single run during his last 22 innings away from Comerica Park. Porcello also sports a record of 7-1 with a 2.01 ERA in his last eight road starts. That's just getting it done, no matter where he pitches.
Arizona is giving the ball to Chase Anderson, who has a nice ERA at 3.64 with a 6-4 record on the season. After winning the first five starts of his career, Anderson has posted a 5.03 ERA while losing the next four starts. Inconsistent, but he will look to build off his last start, which was a win over the Marlins.
The Tigers look like they are hitting the ball better and that's not good for the Diamondbacks. Detroit went through a small skid to end the All-Star break and lost three of four to Cleveland to open the second half. But tonight we like them to get another victory on the road, showcasing themselves as one of the best teams in Major League Baseball away from their home park.
