Sunday Baseball Seattle Mariners vs Los Angeles Angels Free Pick, Odds

Sunday baseball and we will see the Seattle Mariners take on the Los Angeles Angels in game 3 of their 3 game series from Angels Stadium in Anaheim, California. First pitch is scheduled for a 9:05 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised locally.

Current Odds

Seattle              +145
Los Angeles       -165

Over/ Under: 8.5 U -115

Analysis: The Seattle Mariners game 1 of this series in 16 innings, but bounced back with a 3-2 win in 12 innings. The Mariners are now 52-45 on the year and 8 games back of the Oakland A's in the AL West. Seattle is a solid 28-19 on the road this year and they also have gone 27-22 vs the AL West so far. The Mariners not been all that good on offense this year, as they come in ranked 21st in scoring (3.95 rpg), 24th in hitting (.245), and 19th in homers (79). The pitching for the Mariners has been very strong, as they come in ranked 2nd in ERA (3.10) and 1st in WHIP (1.14). Getting the ball for the Mariners today will be Chris Young, who is 8-6 with a 3.15 ERA on the year, while on the road he is 3-3 with a 4.04 ERA. Chris is 4-3 in career starts vs the Halos, but with a 5.65 ERA. Chris is 1-2 with a 6.45 ERA in 5 career starts in this park.

Despite last night's loss, the Angels are still having a great year as they are currently 58-38 on the year, including a league best 33-16 at home. The Halos have won 20 of their last 25 games and are sitting just 1.5 games behind the Oakland A's in the AL West. The Angels come in with the top scoring offense in baseball, putting up 5.03 rpg, while ranking 3rd in hitting (.266) and 5th in homers (102). The pitching has been solid for the Angels, as they are 13th in ERA (3.77), 9th in WHIP (1.24) and 5th in strikeouts (814). Getting the ball for the Angels today will be Tyler Skaggs, who is 5-5 with a 4.50 ERA overall, while at home he has gone 1-2 with a 5.53 ERA. Tyler is 0-1 with a 2.57 ERA in 1 career start vs the Mariners.

Pick: I will look to the Under in this one. Neither team has scored much during the first two games of this series and I don't see that changing here. Tyler Skaggs has struggled of late and at home this year, but the Mariners hit just .233 vs lefties on the road this year and that should keep their scoring down. Chris Young comes in with a 3.15 ERA on the year, with his games averaging just 5.94 rpg, while in his last 3 starts he has the same 3.15 ERA and those games have averaged just 4.67 rpg. Behind the two starters are a couple of pens that have been exceptional of late, so I wouldn't expect much late scoring. I look for no more than 7 runs here.
