St Louis Cardinals vs Milwaukee Brewers Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

Saturday baseball and we will see the St Louis Cardinals take on the Milwaukee Brewers in game 2 of their 3 game series from Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. First pitch is scheduled for a 4:10 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised on Fox Sports 1.

Current Odds

St Louis           -137
Milwaukee       +127

Over/ Under: 7.5 U -120

Analysis:  The St Louis Cardinals have just lost Yadier Molina for an extended time, but still they won a big game last night vs the Brewers, after falling behind 6-0 in the game. The win has now helped the Cards close the gap to just 1 game behind Milwaukee in the tough NL Central.  The Cards come in ranked 28th in scoring (3.70 rpg), 15th in hitting (.252) and 29th in the league in homers (59). The Pitching for the Cardinals has been very solid this year, as they are 6th in the league in ERA (3.35) and 7th in WHIP (1.22). Adam Wainright will toe the rubber for the Cardinals this afternoon and he comes in with an 11-4 and a 1.79 ERA overall, while on the road he has gone 7-3 with a 1.32 ERA. Adam is 9-6 with a 2.17 ERA in 26 career appearances (19 starts) vs the Brewers.

Milwaukee is reeling right now, as they come in having lost 6 in a row and 10 of their last 11 games. Te Brewers did have a sizeable lead in the NL Central, but now they are just a game ahead of the Cards and 1.5 games ahead of the Reds. The Brewers offense has been solid this year, ranking 8th in scoring (4.36 rpg), 12th in hitting (.255) and 9th in homers (93). The pitching has been pretty average for the Brewers, as they come in ranked 14th in ERA (3.78), 9th in WHIP (1.24) and 5th in quality starts (59). Getting the ball for Milwaukee tonight will be Jimmy Nelson, who has made just 1 start this year and he allowed 0 ER’s on 5 hits in 5.2 innings of work vs the Miami Marlins.

Pick:  I will look to the Under in this one. Adam Wainright has been simply awesome on the road with a 1.32 ERA so far this year and he has a 1.75 ERA in his last 13 starts vs the Brewers. Adam's 11 road starts this year have averaged just 4.45 rpg, while Cardinal road games overall have averaged just 6.57 RPG. Adam will be facing a Brewer squad that is really struggling at the plate, averaging just 2.7 rpg in their last 10 games. The Cards scored 7 runs last night, but this is not a team that will do that too many games in a row. They are 28th in the league in scoring and have averaged just 3.43 rpg on the road this year. Jimmy Nelson has just 1 start on the year and he allowed 0 ERs in 5.2 innings of work and has the added advantage of never having faced the Cardinals. The Under is 4-1 in Wainright's last 5 road starts vs the Brewers and the Under is 7-3-3 in his road starts overall this year. This has the feel of a 3-2 pitcher's duel.
